A helicopter soaring near a well-attended coastal beach unexpectedly began spiraling out of control, ultimately descending rapidly and plunging into a row of palm groves as spectators looked on.

Videos posted online capture the helicopter starting to spin over Huntington Beach then plunging towards the border of the beach, where it ends up lodged among palms and a steps close to the Pacific Coast highway.

First Aid Update

The Huntington Beach fire department said five persons were taken to hospital comprising two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the incident on that day.

Three people on the street were injured. Information on their wounds were not yet released.

The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.

The department mentioned the chopper was connected to an regular “Cars and Copters” charity gathering set for the next day.
